The peaceful beauty of Lake Powell Lake Powell, located in Utah right near the border of Arizona, is arguably one of the most beautiful places on earth. Even though it’s a man-made reservoir of the Colorado River (the second largest in the United States as a matter of fact), its picturesque towering red sandstone is breathtaking.

The best part of Lake Powell are the endless amounts of activities that are offered. If you’re more inclined to sit back and take in your surroundings, renting a houseboat might be right up your alley. There are houseboat rentals at the north end in Utah, or at the south end in Arizona.  And these aren’t little dinky houseboats. We’re talking up to a whopping 75 footer that looks more like a cruise ship!  Hop aboard and take your time enjoying the scenery as you power your way across and around the lake.

Of course, if you enjoy more of the fast-paced life, there are also speedboat rentals on either end of Lake Powell. These are perfect for waterskiing, tubing, wakeboarding, and darting to and from any of the numerous beaches and hiking trails all over. Lake Powell is also a hotspot for boat parties—a huge group of speedboats gather in one area, tie their boats together and have a great time. (But remember, don’t drink and operate your boat! There are water police all over that can issue you a DUI for drunk “driving”!)

On top of all of that, Lake Powell is also a popular fishing destination. They have abundant populations of different types of bass, catfish, sunfish and many others…perfect for someone looking to get back to nature and relax.

An image of Lake Powell from spaceSo whatever your M.O. happens to be, chances are Lake Powell can meet your needs. Just look at all the space you have to explore! Whether you like cruising around in a boat, being dragged behind a boat, or just kicking back, go to Utah and check this place out. And, like always, take a ton of pictures.
