I have to admit, I’m enormously disappointed that I missed the second annual Surf City Surf Dog Competition at Huntington Beach, California two weekends ago. Luckily, there was plenty of press coverage of the event (including on Saturday Night Live and The Huffington Post) to fill me in on what I missed. The nation’s most talented canine surfers came out to hit the waves in four different divisions--small dogs, medium dogs, large dogs and extra large dogs. There was even a look-alike competition for owners and their pets.

With preliminary heats for each division, and also a tandem surf for the dogs to share some victory with their owners, clear winners emerged.

Toby won the small dogs division with the help of his rubber duckies:

Florida has had their fair share of storms during what’s been promised to be one of the most active hurricane seasons in decades. First there was Danielle. Then Earl. Then Igor. Matthew was threatening to hit them pretty hard, but he’s been easing up in the past few days.

Intense surfing! Hurricanes and tropical depressions might mean being cooped up indoors if you’re not a water lover. But if you enjoy being outdoors come rain or shine, hurricane season is prime time to catch some of the biggest and best waves of the year! Just ask any surfer from Florida,...

The holidays are a approaching and if you are coming to sunny Florida and hope to fish I would think about booking your charter soon. Right now the kingfish bite is hot and with them we have been smacking the cobia. This has been the best year I can remember for cobia and they are still here. My personal best this year was 45 pounds but several in the 70 and 80 pound range were caught. We still have a couple of months to bottom fish before it closes so don't wait as the end of November it all shuts down out deep. If you really want to have a heart pounding adventure then come out gator hunting with us, yep , that’s right we have about 50 tags left and can put you on a big lizard. You think you are on top the food chain do you, wait until you hook a 12 foot gator who won't be happy your picking on him. It truly is an adventure and you stay save the whole time. Come on down and get you some of this, Capt. Jeff

Here’s just more proof that just because Labor Day came and went, summer isn’t over just yet! If you live around Virginia Beach or Maryland, drop whatever you’re doing and get out on the water for another sweet taste of summer.

Amazing! For the past few weeks, the white marlins have been biting like it’s their job. Many boats off of Rudee Inlet have caught anywhere from 20-30 marlins in a single day, with one boat catching a whopping 50 in ONE day! You can see from the picture to the left how great the fishing has been…the...

See, they're still having fun! This past Monday was bittersweet. We all got the day off from work, but the date also marked the end of something very important…being able to wear the color white. I know, I know. It’s tragic, but I’ll have to retire all of my white clothing to the back of the closet until it’s safe for them to come out again.

What’s that, you say? Labor Day means the end of summer? Au contraire! All it really is is the end of the busy tourist season. There are plenty of advantages to taking a watersports vacation post-Labor...

Yes, that's the Bronx River. Now pick up your jaw. Close your eyes. Imagine you’re kayaking down a beautiful river, enjoying dipping your paddles in the water and watching the egrets and herons and snapping turtles, and maybe even a beaver or two swimming nearby. In one spot, you can even seen bison roaming around on land. Now open your eyes. Where are you? The Bronx.

Floating amidst the subway and the Pelham Parkway, there is a beautiful stretch of river with beautiful waterfalls, old stone bridges overhead and plenty...
