For a quieter river experience, there are plenty of world-class fishing spots in rivers that run near Grants Pass. The Rogue River is home to Chinook and Coho salmon, steelhead, brown trout, cutthroat, golden trout and catfish and received national recognition in 1968 for 84 miles of outstanding scenic, recreational, geologic, and fish and wildlife. The Applegate River is home to silver and Chinook salmon and steelhead spawn. Lake Selmac is the ideal location if you’re looking for a record-breakers and big game fish like bass, trout, crappie, bluegill and bullheads. Lost Creek Reservoir is great for trout, land-stocked salmon, steelhead, largemouth bass, crappie and bluegill. The Illinois River is a beautiful river where you’ll catch steelheads around 14 pounds.
